Donor Impact
The generosity of over a hundred thousand British Columbians is what makes the BC Cancer Foundation and our partner, the BC Cancer Agency, successful in our efforts to improve cancer outcomes year after year.
Dollars raised through Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer are certain to have a direct impact on research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency. By partnering with the BC Cancer Foundation, your fundraising efforts will guarantee results in days or weeks rather than months or years and will ensure that more people are diagnosed earlier and treatments continue to become more effective with fewer side-effects.
We work closely with clinicians and researchers to make this happen: to direct funds to the areas of greatest promise and to priority projects that will have the greatest impact. Let me give you a few examples of what Road Hockey will support:
Researchers at the Deeley Research Centre on Vancouver Island are accelerating immunotherapy strategies to harness the immune system’s natural anti-cancer abilities, resulting in less invasive, more effective treatments.
The BC Cancer Agency has partnered with Simon Fraser University to establish a new research Chair in cancer survivorship, enabling this burgeoning new field of research to help the more than 12,000 British Columbians who complete treatment each year to live their best life after cancer.
Over and over again, we see evidence that now is the time, B.C. is the place, and BC Cancer Foundation donors, through Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer will make the difference. You bring hope and optimism to the more than 24,000 British Columbians who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.
On behalf of the BC Cancer Foundation, I want to thank each of you for the many ways you step up to create momentum, to inspire others to take part in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, and to raise awareness about how investments in cancer research are improving the lives of cancer patients in our province.
We appreciate all the hard work you’re doing and we are so thrilled to faceoff on September 14th with a mutual goal of a world free from cancer!
