Top Cheese Snipers Drop the Puck on RHCC 2013

January 07, 2013

The Top Cheese Snipers – winners of the Winter Classic Team Experience – came together on January 2nd at Ricoh Coliseum to ring-in the New Year for Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer and celebrate their incredible contribution to 2012’s event. Having collectively raised over $11,000 for the second annual Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer tournament, the team was originally rewarded with a trip to the NHL’s Winter Classic event in Ann Arbor, Michigan. However, due to outstanding labour issues, the game was cancelled. Working in collaboration with the Toronto Marlies Hockey Club, the Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer team was able to provide The Top Cheese Snipers with a once-in-a-lifetime “hockey experience” that included an hour of ice time at Ricoh Coliseum, dinner at the Real Sports Bar & Grill. The evening culminated in Team Captain Brent Trivett and his roster of fellow cancer warriors participating in the ceremonial face off. Not surprisingly, the team received a resounding welcome from over 6,000 fans at the game and went on to watch the Marlies crush the Bulldogs 6-0 from one of the executive suites.

“It was a pleasure to recognize Brent and his entire team for their amazing hard work surrounding Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer”, said Shawn Burt, Chief Hockey Officer at the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. “Their team truly encapsulates everything Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer stands for which is to bring together Canadians through the game we love further our fight against this terrible disease. We’re grateful for everything they have done and look forward to seeing them again on Saturday September 28th, 2013 at Ontario Place!”

A BIG thank you to the Top Cheese Snipers – see you again in 2013!
